PORTFOLIO: The Early Years
New businesses sometimes develop through unusual circumstances… In this case, Mirvinsworld Digital came about due to the converging of two things I love; drawing and hockey. At first, I did drawings of some of my favorite professional hockey players for the love of it. Only later did I realize there could actually be a market for this type of art.
When my dad worked for Rothschild, his employers invited their employees and families to what they referred to as a hockey night in New York tribute. At this dinner, all time hockey greats were honored in conjunction with acknowledging the newest inductee into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
As one who loved to play hockey and who was (and is) a rabid fan of the NHL, this dinner was simply nirvana. It provided a perfect venue for me to ask great players from my favorite sport to sign my artwork.
My dad would tip me off to the guest list for the dinner, and I would then draw their likenesses. The players were generally happy to oblige a budding young artist with signatures on their drawings. This section is just some of the illustrations I had autographed. This represents my efforts from many years back. While it’s not the best work I have ever produced, they do represent something I am very proud of and hope you enjoy sharing this.
